From the Chairman

A Welcome message from the Chairman of the Board of Directors

H.E. Dr. Ziad Fariz

In the realm of the challenges witnessed in the Arab region, significantly those concerned with unemployment rates, the unprecedented youth bulge, issues of quality in education and higher education, in addition to, the relevancy of graduates skills, competencies and knowledge in the job market, there is an equally promising and sustainable platform that is shaping as a result of the efforts exerted by; the private and public sectors, policy makers and regulators, civil society and most significantly the youth accounting for over 60% of the Arab Nation.

Arab countries are now striving to revive their economic growth and sustainability through; implementing tactful monetary and fiscal policies, advocating for accountability, transparency and good governance, making investments in; education, creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship and mentorships programs that open gateways for Arab prosperity. Nevertheless, such financial investments are leveraged when the integrated support and partnership between academia, the private and the public sectors is accomplished.

In Jordan, the HFE since its inception in 1999 has accomplished a great deal of success in contributing to the development of the higher education sector in Jordan by assisting a considerable number of private and public universities in assessing the quality of their higher education programmes across the kingdom. The projects also focused on investing in intellectual capital and conducting a variety of capacity building workshops in quality assurance of higher education and teaching, learning and assessment methods. Additionally, the HFE supported workshops conducted by universities in Jordan and provided financial support to a number of schools to participate in math, science and technology competitions that challenge the students’ intellectual mind and allow for further development and innovation.

The HFE believes in restoring confidence in Education, in addition to developing tactful pioneering plans to stimulate entrepreneurship, instill the concept of job creation amongst the youth, and equip the upcoming generation with the necessary tools and techniques to shape their futures and achieve their career aspiration par excellence. The HFE plans to accomplish the above by continuing in its effort to support the education sector through the implementation of entrepreneurship projects across the kingdom, and supporting schools and universities at adopting internationally recognized, successful teaching learning and assessment methods that prepare graduates to meet the ever changing market needs.

We are facing a time of unprecedented challenges and a cross road that can be altered to surface prolific opportunities, thereby putting the region at the forefront of economic prosperity. Thus I urge the private sector across the kingdom, to embark on the success of the HFE which was established by the banking sector as part of their social responsibility commitments, and to further develop projects that join multi stakeholders from the private, public and education sector alike.

I wish you a year full of prosperity and success.

Dr. Ziad Fariz
